France-based aircraft maker Airbus decided to bring forward the entry-into-service for A320neo Family from 2016 to October 2015 due to earnest market demand, the firm said Wednesday in a statement.
"The exceptional market demand for the A320neo Family ... has encouraged us to advance the entry into service date to October 2015,"said John Leahy, Airbus'Chief Operating Officer, Customers.
Designed to save up to 15 percent fuel, the A320neo planes incorporates new more efficient engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which can provide a double-digit reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise, according to Airbus.
The A320neo Family has picked up Pratt & Whitney's PW1100G turbofan as the lead development engine to respond customers' demand, the company said, adding CFM International's LEAP-X engine is also used.
Several smaller airlines, including operators in India, the U.S. and Brazil, have ordered for Airbus Neo jets. Last month, the German flag carrier Lufthansa said it had ordered 30 of the aircraft, worth around 2.8 billion U.S. dollars at catalogue prices.
