China Globally Lauded as A Country Full of Vigor and Hope

China has proved once again it is a country full of vigor and hope under the leadership of a party devoted to the people and a government adept at statecraft.

This is the sentiment resonating among China observers worldwide in the wake of the latest sessions of the country's top legislature and political advisory body, a significant 12-day event that has charted the course of China's 2011-2015 development.

While addressing holistic strategies for national development at the macro level, this year's "two sessions" also featured detailed discussions on micro-level topics closely related to the people's livelihood, Yang Wenkai, chief editor of Japan's Chinese-language newspaper Chinese Review Weekly, told Xinhua in a recent interview.

Former Pakistan ambassador to China Akram Zaki said: "The Chinese leadership is quite forward-looking, has a long-term plan to govern the country, and can tap the whole nation's potential for creativity and encourage the Chinese people to strive for national development."

AN ADEPT STATE COMMITTED TO PEOPLE-FIRST PHILOSOPHY

Putting the people's interests first, pursuing common prosperity and bringing the benefits of national development to the whole citizenry were overarching principles repeatedly stressed during the "two sessions."

Recalling her own experiences in China, Rashida Mustafa, a Chinese language teacher at the National University of Modern languages in Islamabad, said the Chinese people's well-being had improved remarkably in recent years.

She told Xinhua that, when she studied in Beijing in 1980s, she felt that she was rich while her Chinese peers were relatively poor. But that had now changed, with the Chinese people having much more disposable income, she said.

Enrique Fanjul, a former president of the Spanish-Chinese Business Association, said: "The Communist Party of China has taken the leading role in the largest-scale economic revolution in human history, because never before did such a huge nation achieve such a fundamental improvement in material living conditions in such a short period."

Noting that China was also paying increasing attention to economic restructuring, Pierre Picquart, a China expert at the University of Paris, said China was constantly adjusting its footsteps to adapt to its development needs with each new five-year plan.

These adjustments, he said, would help the Chinese government build a fairer and more just society and, by doing so, establish an example for a harmonious society for the whole world.

Commenting on China's unique development path, Professor Zheng Yongnian, director of the East Asia Institute at the National University of Singapore, said China had formulated an inclusive political system which was pursuing open development and able to efficiently carry out socio-economic construction.

A VIGOROUS NATION DETERMINED TO MAINTAIN STABILITY

Pakistan's current ambassador to China, Masood Khan, said even medium- and small-size cities such as Hohhot and Dongying were throbbing with energy, with local citizens dedicating themselves to catching up with and even surpassing developed cities.

This kind of energy was running through every Chinese city and town and in every Chinese citizen, old and young, he said, adding that this energy was modern China's most valuable asset.

Echoing Khan's remarks, British Ambassador to China Sebastian Wood said what impressed him most since he came to China a year ago was that every student and entrepreneur he knew manifested enormous vigor and a deep confidence that everything was possible.
