TOKYO, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Michelin Guide has announced that it will award 11 restaurants in Tokyo three stars, meaning that for the first time, Paris will not have the most places to eat with the book's highest accolade.
Since its first 2008 guidebook, Tokyo has been the city with the most starred restaurants in the world, but this is the first time for it to be the area with the most three-star places to eat.
The culinary guide announced that one restaurant, Hamadaya, was to lose one of its stars and to status. Meanwhile, Yukimura, Esakiand Sushi Saito all gained the prestigious rank.
Paris will lose its status as the home of top restaurants, with The Michelin Guide to that city featuring 10 three-star establishments in 2010.
The 2010 Michelin Guide Tokyo will feature 197 restaurants, with two-thirds serving Japanese food.
