British Airways and Spain's Iberia have unveiled new flight schedules following their merger that will provide a more comprehensive trans-Atlantic service.
The airlines said Thursday that departures from Heathrow to New York will depart every hour between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. local time. There also will be a maximum of only an hour-and-a-half between morning departures.
The new schedule - due to start on March 27 - aims to create more of a "shuttle service" on the lucrative route. Previously, of the 11 daily flights to New York, five left Heathrow at almost exactly the same time.
Among the other changes, BA will resume daily flights to San Diego in June after an eight-year break, while Iberia will begin the only direct flight between Spain and California later this month.
