Air China Says Cancels Some Flights to Japan

Air China, the country's flag carrier, said on Tuesday that it had cancelled a limited number of flights to Japan, mainly due to the operational capacity of some airports there.
"The company is still operating flights between China and Japan," it said in a statement.
Air China currently operates 30 round trip flights per day, providing more than 7,000 seats, the statement said.
The carrier said earlier on its website that it had cancelled flights from Beijing and Shanghai to Tokyo on Tuesday afternoon and in the evening.
It did not give a reason for the cancellations then, but the Japanese government has warned that radioactive levels have become "significantly" higher around an earthquake-stricken nuclear power plant on Tuesday.
Shares of Air China finished on Tuesday down 2.4 percent, in line with the broader market, which fell 2.9 percent as Japan's nuclear crisis worsened.
