Pilots Given Option Not to Fly to Japan

Write: Gina [2011-05-20]
Air New Zealand pilots flying to Japan are working on a voluntary basis.
Pilots Association president Mark Rammell says pilots have the choice not to fly because of concern about the Fukushima nuclear power plant and continuing aftershocks.
Mr Rammell says the majority are happy to fly but the association is worried that pilots who stay overnight aren't getting enough rest before they fly back to New Zealand because of continuing aftershocks.
He says other airlines are sending their staff to Osaka, which is less affected.
