Qantas Flight Turned Back After Smoke Detected

Write: Harlan [2011-05-20]
An electrical fault in the galley forced a Qantas plane to return to Adelaide this afternoon.
The smell of smoke was detected in the back of the plane less than an hour into the flight to Perth.
Passenger Norman Virgo says everyone remained calm as the pilot told them what was happening.
"They advised us that they were returning to Adelaide and we would be there in 25 minutes," he said.
Passenger Alison Bonhomme says everyone on board was kept well-informed.
"It was a very calm environment but obviously your tummy gets a little bit fluttery wondering what's going on," she said.
Qantas says it will arrange an alternative flight for the affected passengers.
