A Virgin Blue flight has returned to Melbourne airport after the pilot noticed the smell of fumes in the cabin this morning.
Flight DJ807 had departed from Melbourne en route to Sydney and was about half-way there when the decision was made to return.
The flight landed safely and affected passengers have been put on alternative flights to Sydney.
Engineers are now checking the plane.
