Sunshine Coast Airport: Runway Plans Move Ahead

Write: Jabari [2011-05-20]
The Sunshine Coast Regional Council has approved the next stage in the development of a new runway at the Sunshine Coast Airport.
Councillors have unanimously endorsed the airport's initial advice statement (IAS) and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) referrals to the state and federal governments for the AU$250 million project.
Airport manager Peter Pallot says it paves the way for work to begin on an environmental impact statement for the project next year.
"Yesterday was a very important milestone in the development of our new runway project," he said.
"The council unanimously endorsed the submission of our IAS and EPBC referral to both the state and federal governments and gives the ability now to drive the project forward to its next step."
