BEIJING -- China's customs revenue totaled 1.25 trillion yuan ($189.9 billion) in 2010, up 35.9 percent year-on-year, the country's customs authority said Wednesday.

Chinese customs authorities collected 202.78 billion yuan in tariffs last year, up 36.7 percent year-on-year, according to the General Administration of Customs (GAC).

They also collected 1.05 trillion yuan in import fees, up 35.7 percent year-on-year.

GAC head Sheng Guangzu attributed the revenue growth to strong imports amid the country's economic recovery.

GAC said earlier Chinese imports surged 38.7 percent year-on-year to $1.39 trillion last year while exports grew 31.3 percent year on year to $1.58 trillion.
