China
China's stocks slipped Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.68 percent, or 17.15 points, to end at 2,498.94.
The Shenzhen Component Index decreased 0.71 percent, or 77.87 points, to finish at 10,933.31.
Japan
Japanese stocks closed slightly higher on Thursday, up 0.34 per cent, despite worse-than-expected core machinery orders for July dragging on heavy machinery shares.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed up 29.71 points at 8,793.12. The broader Topix index of all first-section issues added 3.78 points, or 0.50 per cent, at 757.41.
Australia
Australian stocks closed marginally higher Thursday afternoon after disappointing jobs data prompted a selloff that left the market briefly in red figures.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index closed up 4.6 points, or 0.1 per cent, at 4,188 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index rose 6.9 points, or 0.16 per cent, to 4,269.8 points.
