1.Senate leaders agree on debt ceiling deal
A tentative deal says the debt ceiling will be raised by 2.4 trillion in three phases with matching deficit cuts worth 2.4 trillion over the next decade.
Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid announced Sunday he had reached an agreement with the White House and Republican leadership in the Senate on a deal that would raise the debt ceiling and reduce the deficit.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said she will discuss the tentative agreement with House Democrats on Monday. But she warned her colleagues may not agree to such a last-minute proposal without further consideration.
According to the tentative agreement, the debt ceiling will be raised by 2.4 trillion in three phases with matching deficit cuts worth 2.4 trillion over the next decade.
