HK's total exports volume rises 2.7% in May

The volume of total exports of goods rose 2.7 percent in Hong Kong in May from a year ago, the city's statistic department said here on Tuesday, while the volume of imports of goods increased 5.1 percent from a year earlier.

For the first five months in 2011, Hong Kong's total exports' volume climbed 9.6 percent from a year ago, and the volume of impost added 8.4 percent, according to the data.

In terms of areas, the total export volume to Taiwan and Germany grew significantly by 24.5 percent and 20.4 percent, respectively, followed by the Chinese mainland at 3.5 percent. On the other hand, the total export volume to the United States and Japan decreased 12.2 percent and 13.1 percent, respectively.
