Hong Kong stocks end 1.16 percent higher

Hong Kong stocks went up 251.08 points, or 1.16 percent,to close at 21,850.59 on Tuesday, boosted by the good performance of property developers.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened 184.35 points higher, or 0.85 percent at 21,783.86, then traded between 21,656.06 and 21,875.16 during the day's session. Turnover totaled 69.51 billion HK dollars (about 8.924 billion U.S. dollars).
The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index went up 139.41 points, or 1.16 percent, to close at 12,148.74.
All the four sub-indices gained ground. The Finance sub-index added 0.92 percent, the Properties went up 0.95 percent, the Commerce and Industry added 1.46 percent and the Utilities ended 1.61 percent higher.
Banking giant HSBC, which accounts for the largest weighting of the Hang Seng Index, closed 1.656 percent higher to end at 76.75 HK dollars, and its local unit Hang Seng Bank went up 0.664 percent to 121.2 HK dollars. Bank of East Asia, another major bank of Hong Kong, ended 0.469 percent higher at 32.15 HK dollars. Local bourse operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing added 2.868 percent to 161.4 HK dollars.
ICBC, the world's largest bank by market value, finished up 1.213 percent at 5.84 HK dollars. China Construction Bank dropped 2.276 percent at 6.44 HK dollars. Bank of Communications went up 0.556 percent to 7.24 HK dollars, while Bank of China lost 0.789 percent to 3.77 HK dollars.
Local Property stocks rebounded. Cheung Kong Holding, a powerful HK-based developer controlled by billionaire Li Ka-shing, moved up 0.184 percent to 109.1 HK dollars. Henderson Land, another major developer in Hong Kong, added 0.854 percent to 47.25 HK dollars. Hang Lung Properties went up 2.573 percent to 29.9 HK dollars.
As for oils shares, the country's largest oil and gas producer PetroChina gained 1.838 percent to 11.08 HK dollars. China's top refiner Sinopec added 1.534 percent to 7.28 HK dollars. The HK-listed unit of China's National Offshore Oil Corporation, CNOOC, moved up 1.006 percent to 18.08 HK dollars. (1 U.S. dollar equals to 7.789 HK dollars)
