Tecent to invest 10 bln yuan into fund for developers

Tecent Holdings Ltd., China's biggest Internet player, will pour 10 billion yuan (1.54 billion U.S. dollars) into a fund to boost partnerships with other developers.
Tecent wants to help its partners gain, said Tecent CEO Ma Huateng at a meeting in Beijing on Wednesday.
Tecent reported 20 billion yuan of revenue last year, among which 4 billion yuan went to its partners, founder Ma said.
The fund launched this year has attracted 2 billion yuan to date, Ma said.
Tecent has opened almost all its services to outside developers and formed eight open platforms for partners on instant-message service, space, microblog, searching engine, e-payment and e-commerce, Tecent President Liu Zhiping said.
The Shenzhen-based company is also China's largest online games company and operator of China's most-popular local instant-message service known as QQ.
Tecent is competing with local rivals of Baidu Inc., Sina Corp. and Renren Inc.
