China's stock index futures closed down Friday with the contract for June, the most actively traded, down 0.53 percent from the previous day to close at 2,981.
The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed Friday at 11,492.71 points, down 37.99 points, or 0.33 percent.
China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 2,709.95 points Friday, down 26.58 points, or 0.97 percent, from the previous close.
Hong Kong stocks gained 217.28 points, or 0.95 percent, to close at 23,118.07 on Friday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 22,939.95 and 23, 150.6. Turnover totaled 64.18 billion HK dollars (about 8.25 billion U.S. dollars).
Japan
Japanese stocks fell Friday amid slim trading on a higher yen and Sony Corp's weaker-than-expected earnings outlook.
The benchmark Nikkei-225 index dropped 40.11 points, or 0.42 percent, from Thursday to 9,521.94.
Australia
The Australian stock market recovered from early softness on Friday to end the week higher as bargain hunters moved in to recover value in a heavily sold-down bourse.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index climbed 23.8 points, or 0.51 per cent, at 4,684, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 25.2 points, or 0.53 per cent, at 4,760.3.
