Chinese shares fell for the fifth consecutive trading day on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.91 percent, or 25.32 points, to 2,741.74.
The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 1.14 percent, or 134.51 points, to close at 11,615.42.
Hong Kong stocks gained 16.5 points, or 0.07 percent, to close at 22,747.28 on Wednesday.
Japan
Japan's Nikkei share average closed at a two-month low on Wednesday as worries about the euro zone debt crisis and a slowdown in the U.S. economy sapped appetite for bargain-hunting.
The benchmark Nikkei average closed down 0.6 percent at 9,422.88, its lowest close since March 18, though it has managed to stay above a key support just above the 9,400 mark. The broader Topix shed 0.2 percent to 817.74.
Australia
THE Australian stock market closed almost 1 per cent lower today, falling for the fourth straight session amid broad-based selling.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was down 46.7 points, or 0.95 per cent, at 4584.70, while the broader All Ordinaries fell 46.70 (0.99 per cent) to 4661.60.
