Write: Waite [2011-11-25]
The rate of growth of sales of China s apparel items has declined during January to October period of the current year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Giving details about China s commercial operation during the first ten months of 2011, Shen Danyang, Spokesperson of the Ministry, said consumer spending was light due to rise in prices of apparel items.
He added that the prices of apparel items have been increasing since the beginning of this year due to rise in the cost of labour and raw materials.
Last month, apparel item sales of 3,000 key retailers in the country increased by 14.7 percent year-on-year, which is a decrease of 8.6 percent on a month-on-month basis.
As per National Bureau of Statistics data, the price of clothing items increased by 3.7 percent year-on-year in October, continuing with the upward trend seen during the last twelve months.
