BEIJING - A subsidiary of China CNR Corp said Wednesday it has signed a bogie sales contract worth 210 million yuan ($32.16 million) with Iran's Rahvar Kowsar Rail Transport Co.

Qiqihar Railway Rolling Stock Co Ltd (QRRS), owned by the nation's second largest train maker, said the first batch of bogies worth 45.78 million yuan has already been shipped.

The ZK1-type bogie developed by QRRS possesses advanced qualities such as a simpler structure, which allows for higher speeds and minimizes wheel flange wear. QRRS owns the independent intellectual property rights for the product.

QRRS said it has sold more than 3,000 vehicles assembled with its ZK1-type bogie to countries including Australia, New Zealand and Mongolia in recent years.

Bogies are similar to a human's legs and feet in that they are used to support and guide railway trains. They ensure safer and more comfortable rides by absorbing vibrations and other forces when the vehicle runs on a straight or curved track.
