Chinese shares closed lower Tuesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.38 points, or 0.05 percent, to 3,021.37.
The Shenzhen Component Index fell 22.83 points, or 0.18 percent, to 12,902.22.
Hong Kong stocks lost 326.7 points, or 1.34 percent, to close at 23,976.37 on Tuesday.
Japan
Tokyo stocks fell sharply Tuesday with the key Nikkei index down 1.69 percent.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Average dropped 164.44 points from Monday to 9,555.26.
The broader Topix index contracted 13.83 points, or 1.62 percent, to 838.
Australia
The Australian share market closed sharply lower on Tuesday, pulled back by profit-taking on mining and energy stocks, amid fresh concerns about U.S. growth prospects and the nuclear crises in Japan.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 72.5 points, or 1.46 percent, at 4898.7.
The broader All Ordinaries index was down 74.7 points, or 1.47 percent, at 4990.2.
