STOCKHOLM - Air China will fly between Beijing and Stockholm daily beginning March 30th, the airline says.
"Air China is increasing its flights from five days a week to every day beginning at the end of the month. This is to meet the increasing demand from passengers," Yan Wenzhong, general manager of Air China's office in Stockholm, told Xinhua.
Yan said the increase in the number of passengers has a lot to do with the rapid development of bilateral relations between China and Sweden in recent years.
"This has greatly stimulated exchanges of people between the two countries," Yan said.
Last year, the passengers travelling between Beijing and Stockholm reached 57,000, 60 percent more than in 2009. So far this year, the number of passengers has also increased rapidly, Yan said.
Air China is the only direct airline between Beijing and Stockholm.
Yan said that Asia is the largest market for Air China. Many passengers can fly on Air China from Stockholm to Beijing and then from Beijing they can reach many other Asian countries very quickly.
Air China opened its line between Beijing and Stockholm in August 1988 with only one flight each week. It gradually increased to five flights a week and even extended the flight to Copenhagen from Stockholm for some time.
