Huawei Technologies has urged the U.S. to investigate the company, hoping to dispel suspicions that it poses a threat to U.S. national security.
In an open letter, Deputy Chairman Ken Hu provides details about Huawei's tax breaks, government research grants and its arrangement with China Development Bank to provide loans to the company's clients, saying such activities are consistent with global norms.
Mr. Hu writes that the claims that Huawei has ties to the military or that it receives financial support from the Chinese government, are "falsehoods" that "have had significant and negative impact on Huawei's business activity".
He promises that Huawei would "cooperate transparently with all government agencies" in a U.S. investigation. The letter follows years of thwarted attempts by the company to crack the U.S. market.
Huawei's $28 billion in unaudited revenue last year makes it the world's number two in telecom-equipment behind Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson.
