Foxconn Technology Group, the world's largest contract manufacturer of electronics parts, on Tuesday announced plan to recruit no fewer than 30,000 workers in Hubei province after the Spring Festival and also offer higher wages, the National Business Daily reported Wednesday.
The company said it would offer a monthly salary as high as 2,800 yuan to common workers, much higher than the average salary level for common workers of 1,500 yuan in Wuhan.
Foxconn, the Taiwan-based electronics company that supplies products to Apple Inc and other multinational companies, said in December that its workforce on the Chinese mainland exceeded one million as the company continues to hire during the holiday season.
"We have been suffering from a labor shortage since two years ago," said a human resources manager of a well-known clothing manufacturer in Wuhan. "Foxconn's wage hike to 2,800 yuan will surely impact our recruitment," the manager said.
