Banruo Tmeple locates the northeast Cape of the People Square in the center of Changchun. It is the biggest Buddhism temple in Changchun. The temple, although not traditionally old (construction only began in 1921), is a perfect example of Buddhist architectural structure. The temple boasts a total space of nearly 15,000 square meters and is filled with beautiful halls and garden settings. Nowadays around 40 practicing monks live their life here, meditating, eating, sleeping and the like.
There are bell-tower and drum-tower on both sides of Tianwang Hall separately; the statue of Mile Buddha is sacrificed in the hall and the statues of Four Tianwang who stamped on 8 strange beasts are situated vividly on both sides of the hall; the statue of safeguard-Weiuo Bodhisattva is erected on the back of the hall.
The gate of the temple is constituted by three arched doors that are juxtaposeds. They are finely divided and ingenious buildings. There are three yards in the temple. They are the Mile Palace, the Daqiongbao Palace and the Western Three Saints Palace. The Daqiongbao Palace is the center of the temple and is the biggest building. The external appearance is solemn. The Gautama's statue is dedicated in the palace. The Eighteen Luohan stand the two sides. There are colorful paintings on the wall. There are two palaces at the two sides of the main palace. The east one is the Guanshiyinpusa Palace and the west one is the Dizhangwangpusa Palace. There is a great deal of writing of the Buddhism.
Behind Tianwang hall, Main hall is the center of the temple and the largest building in the temple. The outside of the Main Hall is stately, grand, resplendent and magnificent. The statue of Sakyamuni is sacrificed in the hall, eighteen arhats stand on both sides, and colored paintings are on four walls.
There are two attached halls on the both sides of the back of the Main Hall: the eastern one is for Kwan-yin and the western one is for Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Walking on, you will see a sutra depository where there are plenty of Buddhist classical books. There are tens of wing-rooms in the ancient temple to use as places for cultivating oneself according to a religious doctrine, eating, living, etc. On important Buddhist days, many people come here.
