Juzi (means orange) Island in the Xiangjiang River formed in the 305 AD, covered by the flourished and aged trees. The name of island was derived from a famous poem of Chairman Mao Zedong, also well-known for its product, the orange.
Juzi Island came into being in 305 AD and got its name in the six century, from the poem of famous poet in Tang Dynasty., "the field of Ju Island is still fertile". In the island, there were Shuilu Temple, Gongji Pavilion, Jiangxin Pavilion. In 1992, Juzi Island was developed to be a scenic spot of Changsha, gathering tourism, entertainment, gym, culture and commerce. There are surfing place, children s paradise, cate street, film street, gym, international conference center, holiday resort, science and technology garden, etc. Juzi Island has been called a little heaven of Penglai .
There are swimming beaches at the both sides of the island, and the local government has made the great effort on integrating traveling, entertainment, sports, culture and commerce in the island. In the next years, the area will be divided into Two Corridors and Seven Gardens: Hunan Culture Corridor, On-water Amusement Corridor, Orange Garden, Garden of the Nature, Park of Harmonious Guests, Plaza of Shopping and Foods, GYM Center, Relaxation Resort and Wildlife Park.
