The mysteries of science and technology come to life here, with plenty of hands-on exhibits sure to appeal to children and adults alike. You can explore the mystery of science and the relationship between your surroundings and science here. Hong Kong Science Museum is devoted in publicizing knowledge on science and raising the interest of the citizens to science. Most of the exhibits in the museum are designed in forms of interaction and stress the coordination of one s senses and self-exploration. And Hong Kong Science Museum has become an ideal place to learn about science.

Located in the east of Tsim Sha Tsui and next to the History Museum, Hong Kong Science Museum was used from 1991, covering four storeys and an area of 12,000 square meters. More than 500 exhibits are collected in the museum, which can be divided into many fields, including computers, robotics, life sciences, transportation, communication, life science, food science, meteorology, geography and home technology.

About 60%-70% of the exhibits are interactive, so you can explore the secrets of science by yourself. Guiding Hall, Laboratory, Energy Center, Computer Room and Children s Corner are equipped.

Visitors can play with different optical illusions, enter a rotating room to learn physics in a noninertial frame, "freeze" their shadows on a wall, pick up remote voices with a large parabolic disc, play with bubbles, navigate a flight over Hong Kong Island or Kowloon at night, watch the mechanisms of an eight-cylinder gasoline engine, and learn about herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine.

There are exhibits designed to test a visitor's fitness, such as lung capacity, endurance and blood pressure. There are more than 30 personal computers in the computer section, where guests can learn about computer software, including word processing for children and graphics production, and surf the Internet for free.

This is a great place to bring kids on a rainy or humid day.

Hong Kong Science Museum is always devoted in populating science education and raising the citizen s interests towards science and technology and improving the quality of their lives.
