Located in the south-eastern part of downtown Suzhou, the Garden of the Master of the Nets is one of the four famous gardens , and is regarded as truly representative of both the artistic style and cultural heritage of Suzhou s classic gardens. In 1997, it was listed among UNESCO s World Heritage Sites.
The Garden of the Master of the Nets was first built in the Song Dynasty and has seen several renovations. It was given its current name. Garden of the Master of the Nets , during the Qing Dynasty. The garden hosts many masterpieces such as poems, paintings, and carvings.
The Garden of the Master of the Nets is a typical residential garden, and it is divided into three parts. The east part is the residential area where the owner of the garden lived with his family; the main garden is in the middle, and the west part is the inner garden. The residential area is delicately decorated with beautiful tile carvings. It is regarded as being truly representative of a feudal society residence. The main garden features a big pond surrounded by artificial hills, various flowers and trees, and a pavilion.
