Kat Hing Wai Walled Village, located in Hong Kong s Yuen Long District, was built in the Ming Dynasty (1600) and has a 400-year history. The walls around the village served as a defence against pirates in ancient times. Some of the Village s original features, including blockhouses and moats remain intact to this day.
The tourists can listen to the villagers recounting old folk tales and sample the unique Kat Hing Wai Walled Village culture.
The villagers still retain the habit of wearing the old-style wide-brimmed black hats.
