China s only museum dedicated to pianos is located in Shuzhuang Garden s Tide-Viewing Tower on Gulangyu Island, also called piano island because of the long popularity of the instrument among local people. The museum showcases the history and culture of piano music. They include the well-known Steinwat and Sons made in the United States during the first half of 19th century, the world s tallest upright piano by Broadward and Sons, as well as the biggest and oldest vertical piano.
