The Museum of the Macau Grand Prix, which opened on 18 November 1993, was created by the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Macau Grand Prix. The purpose of the Musuem is to contribute to the awareness of the local population as well as visitors of what has happened during the GP's long history. It is also meant to be a record for future generations of the many efforts and contributions made by all those who have participated both on and off the track and, at the same time, to become a center of attraction and promotion of the Territory's greatest sporting and social event. In addition to viewing the objects on display, which are characteristic of the various Grand Prix, the visitor can learn more about its history by reading the information boards that are placed throughout the Museum.
