Mt. Baxian National Nature Reserve is located at the triangle formed by Ji County, Zunhua County and Xinglong County, and faces the magnificent Easter Royal Tombs of the Qing Dynasty to the east and stands adjacent to the towering and majestic Huangya Guan Great Wall to the west. It also borders the rippling Cuiping Lake to the south as well as the inspiring Wuling Mountain to the north. This is the highest point in Tianjin. There are 19 peaks in total, all of which stand at over 900 meters above sea level. Mt Baxian is known as a Green Kingdom as over 95 percent of its area is covered by trees.
Mount Baxian was originally named Baxian Mount . Legend has it that once the eight immortals passed this thickly wooded mountain, they were attracted by its continuous ridges and peaks, boundless forest, deep gullies and running ghyll. As a result, they stopped by a rock to take refreshment. Afterwards the rock was called Baxian Table and the mountain became known as Mt Baxian (Eight Immortals).
