Huo Yuanjia (1869-1909) was a world-wide renowned patriotic martial artist and was also the founder of the Jingwumen Martial Arts School in Shanghai. He is regarded as a national hero in China for defeating foreign fighters at a time when Chinese sovereignty was being eroded by Western powers. The Former Residence of Huo Yanjia is located in Xiaonan Village in Jinghai County in Tianjin, first built in Emperor Tongzhi s reign during the Qing Dynasty. Huo s tomb is on the south side of the residence. At this, his former former residence, visitors can see a variety of Huo Yuanjia s possessions, such as his weapons, furniture, and daily items.
