The Yuhang Liangzhu Culture Museum is built in the suburb of Hangzhou, near the "Liangzhu Culure" site. Being praised as the "dawn of civilization" of mankind, the "Liangzhu Culture" is an important ancient culture at the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the late Neolithic Period about 4,000 to 5,300 years ago, mainly distributed around the Tai Lake. It was named as Liangzhu because the related historical site was firstly discovered at Liangzhu Township. According to the experts, ancient Chinese civilization started from it. Therefore, Liangzhu site is a powerful evidence to certify China 5000 year civilization history.
In 1994, the museum was opened in order to present the Liangzhu history to the world. The name of the museum is inscribed by Chinese president Jiangzeming. With a floor space of 1600 square meters, the museum covering an area of 10,000 square meters. It is a modern structure of imposing grandeur in the ancient architectural style.
There are lots of ruins to be protected weightily in Liangzhu. It also has some other sceneries, such as drifting down the Shuang Creek with bamboo raft, Dongmingshan forest park, as well as Jingshan temple which is the head of five mountains and ten temples in south Changjiang river, Chao Hil for enjoying plum blossom and historical data museum of Yangnaiwu and Xiaobaicai.
Additional, the tomb of Shenkuo, the scientist in Song dynasty, the museum of Luyu, the Father of tea in Tang dynasty, the former residence of Zhangtaiyan, pioneer of national-democratic revolution and the museum of Wuchangshuo, the great master of gold stone all are here. The items on display in the Liangzhu Culture Museum show the brilliant material civilization and cultural civilization created by Liangzhu ancestors.
