South Mosque

Located in the area mostly inhabited by people of the Hui Nationality, in Xiguan of Shenhe District, the South Mosque of Shenyang was first built in the period of Tiancong in Houjin Dynasty (1627-1636), expanded during Kangxi Period and reconstructed several times in Qianlong and Jiaqing Periods. It has the biggest scale and the longest history among the mosques in the city. The mosque covers an area of 7,000 square meters. Its major buildings include the Big Hall, the Wangyue Building, the Lecturing Hall, the Chapel Hall and the Bathing Hall, all of which present the typical "purity" Islamic mosque style.
