The biggest phone equipment maker in China, Huawei, has now won its first major wireless network order in the U.K.
The Shenzhen-based company has signed a four-year contract to upgrade a U.K. company's mobile network equipment.
The deal should also enable the largest UK mobile-phone company, "Everything, Everywhere" to prepare for high-speed mobile-data services.
Huawei also plans to double its workforce in the U.K. to a thousand people over the next 3-years, as it expands its handset unit.
After expanding through both Asia and Africa, Huawei is now looking to grow in Europe and the U.S. to further close the gap with market leader Ericsson.
