YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steven Chen announced Monday that they had bought Tap11, a social media analytics firm.
The acquisition came after they bought the social bookmarking service Delicious from Yahoo on April 27. Both companies will become part of AVOS, their new Internet company. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed on Monday.
Tap11 is a real-time business intelligence platform for companies to monitor, engage and measure the impact of their social media campaigns on Twitter and Facebook. More than 500 major brands and marketing firms have chosen the web-based analytic software to track what is being circulated about them on the two social media sites. It also plans to add more social networks in the future.
"Our vision is to create the world's best platform for uses to save, share, and discover new content," said Hurley in an AVOS press release. "With the acquisition of Tap11, we will be able to provide consumer and enterprise users with powerful tools to publish and analyze their links' impact in real-time."
"We're excited to join Chad and Steve to take Tap11 to the next level," said Adam Zbar, CEO of Tap11. "With over 1 billion users on the social web and no good tools to systematically archive and analyze this data, there is a massive loss of marketing intelligence."
Hurley, Chen and Jawed Karim co-founded YouTube in 2005 which was acquired by Google 18 months later for 1.76 billion U.S. dollars.
