China's quality control authorities said Friday that more than 4,000 Volvo S40, XC60 and C70 vehicles have been recalled over problematic headlight cleaning systems.
The flawed headlight cleaning pump may affect the washer fluid level sensor, resulting in drivers' failure to get information about low levels of washer fluid in the cleaning system, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement on its website.
Among the recalled cars, 3,034 are imported XC60 models made from Nov. 7, 2009 to Feb. 22, 2011, 942 are domestically-produced S40 models made from Oct. 15, 2010 to Jan. 28, 2011, and 84 are imported C70 models made from May 17, 2010 to Jan. 24, 2011, according to the statement.
Chang'an Ford Mazda Automobile Corporation, producer of the Volvo S40 model, and Volvo Car (Shanghai) Sales Co., Ltd., traders of the XC60 and C70 models, will notify relevant consumers to conduct free checks and repairs, said the statement.
A Volvo hotline (400-678-1200) is now open for consultation, and customers can also call 010-59799616 or 65537365 to reach the defective product management center of the AQSIQ for more information, the AQSIQ said.
