Representatives of UNICEF and UNFPA Paid Visit to NBS

Messrs. Xie Fuzhan, Commissioner, and Zhang Weimin, Deputy Commissioner of National Bureau of Statistics of China interviewed Ms. Yin Yin Nwe, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), representative in China, and Mr. Bernard Coquelin, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), representative in China and their colleagues. The delegation's current visit is mainly to discuss cooperation in the establishment of China's social statistics database matters.

Mr. Xie Fuzhan pointed out that, governments at all levels in China attach great importance to social statistics, NBS as a department of government devoted to data collection, has the obligation and responsibility to provide high-quality social statistics to all levels of government and all sectors of the community. Although there were still exists gaps, which required us not only strengthens on our own work, but also strengthens the cooperation with the international organizations.

Mr. Du Weiqun, Director-General, Department of International Cooperation; Mr. Ma Jingkui, Director-General, and Ms. Liu Wei, Assistant Counsel, Department of Social, Science and Technology Statistics, attended the meeting. Both sides discussed and reached agreement on the development of cooperation projects.
