The Total Retail Sale of Consumer Goods Increased by 12.7 Percent in July

In July, the total retail sale of consumer goods reached 493.5 billion yuan, an increase of 12.7 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.

In view of different regions, the total retail sale of consumer goods in urban area was 333.8 billion yuan, increased by 13.8 percent, the total retail sale of consumer goods in county and under county level was 159.7 billion yuan, up by 10.5 percent.

In view of different industries, the total retail sale of consumer goods for wholesale and retail trade sector was 411.2 billion yuan, an increase of 12.4 percent, that for catering service was 68.9 billion yuan, increased by 17.5 percent; that for other sectors was 13.4 billion yuan, increased by 0.2 percent.

In view of different merchandises, among the retail sale of consumer goods for the wholesale and retail trade above designated size, the foodstuff, clothing and commodities rose by 11, 16 and 21 percent respectively as compared with the same period of last year. Of which, grain and oil rose by 36.3 percent; that of meat, poultry and eggs rose by 9.6 percent; that of garments, shoes and caps rose by 16 percent; that of culture and office facilities rose by 13.6 percent; that of sports and entertainment appliances rose by 15.6 percent; that of daily articles up by 8.6 percent; that of household electrical appliances and AV facilities rosy by 13.9 percent; that of furniture rose by 16.9 percent; that of traditional Chinese and western medicines rose by 12.9%; that of cosmetics rose by 16.9 percent; that of jewelries rose by 11.2 percent; that of communication equipment rose by 21.4 percent; that of motor vehicles rose by 18.2 percent; that of petroleum and relative products rose by 38.2 percent.
