Consumer Price Index (CPI) Up by 1.2 Percent in April


In April, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) up by 1.2 percent over the same period of the previous year, of which, urban area and rural area was up by 1.2 and 1.1 percent, respectively; the price of food, non-food, consumable and services correspondingly rose by 1.8, 0.9, 1.1 and 1.7 percent compared with that in last month.

In terms of different categories, the price of food was up by 1.8 percent, year-on-year. Of which, that of grain was up by 1.2 percent; that of oil or fat and meat, poultry and their products, fresh eggs, and aquatic products was down by 5.5, 8.7, 10.4 and 1.1 percent while that of vegetables was up by 15.6 percent.

The price of tobacco, alcohols and daily articles rose by 0.4 percent. Of which, the tobacco price maintained the general level compared with that in last April, and that of alcohols was up by 0.8 percent, year-on-year.

The price of clothing dropped by 0.5 percent. Of which, clothes price dropped by 1.1 percent.

The price of household appliances and maintenance services rose by 0.7 percentage points. Of which, consumer durable goods remained the same level; that of household service and maintenance service rose by 5.8 percent compared with the same time of the previous year.

The price of medical care and personal articles was up by 1.0 percent. Of which, western medicine dropped by 1.6 percent, that of the traditional Chinese medicinal materials and medicine was down by 1.2 percent, while that of medical care service rose by 4.0 percent.

The price of transportation and communications dropped by 0.6 percent. Of which, price of vehicles dropped by 1.9 percent, while that of vehicle fuel and spares rose by 11.2 percent, that of using and maintaining of vehicle was up by 1.9 percent, that of urban transportation fee rose by 4.6 percent, and that of communication service dropped by 10.1 percent compared with the same month last year.

The price of recreational, educational and cultural articles dropped by 0.1 percent, year-on-year. Of which, tuition and cost in baby-care rose by 0.8 percent, that of recreation increased by 1.0percent, that of tourism and outgoing increased by 3.0 percent, and that of consumer durables for recreation was down by 0.3 percent.

The price of articles related to dwelling was up by 4.3 percent. Of which, water, electricity and fuel, construction and decoration materials, and housing rent was respectively up by 6.8 , 3.0, and 2.0 percent.

In total, the consumer price index (CPI) from January to April increased 1.2 percent, year-on-year.
