Foreign trade in Guangdong province up 30%

GUANGZHOU - Southern China's Guangdong province generated $627.3 billion in foreign trade in the first 10 months of the year, a 30.1-percent year-on-year increase, the local customs house said Saturday.

Accounting for 26.2 percent of the nation's total foreign trade, the figure included $360.1 billion of exports, up 26.7 percent year-on-year, and $267.2 billion of imports, up 35 percent.

From January to October, Guangdong's trade with the European Union rose 27.4 percent year-on-year to $75.5 billion while trade with the United States climbed 22.2 percent to $80.3 billion dollars.

Its trade with China's Taiwan jumped 34.2 percent year-on-year to $40.4 billion while trade with Hong Kong increased 32 percent to $122.2 billion.
