East China's Jiangsu Province has launched a cargo air route to Hong Kong and a sealane to Janpan to boost foreign trade, local transport department said Monday.

A cargo air route to Hong Kong launched in Wuxi

Wuxi City Saturday started its first cargo air route to Hong Kong, where freight can be transferred abroad.

The cargo flight to Hong Kong will improve the city's overseas cargo transport capacity, as foreign trade cargo can only be carried by passenger planes previously.

The city currently does not have any international air route.

The airline provides cargo flights every Wednesday and Saturday.

A new sea route to Japan launched in Taicang

Taicang, a port city where the Yangtze River flows into the sea, last week launched its fourth sea route to Japan.

The new route connects Taicang and Japan's Nagoya via another two Japanese cities including Tokyo and Yokohama.

The sealane, operated by Chongqing Marine Shipping Co., is scheduled to provide shipping service every Friday and each vessel can carry 670 containers.

The cargo volume for the three previously-launched Japan-heading sea routes was 5,900 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) in the first quarter this year.

Taicang launched its first sea route to Japan in 2006.
