Sinopec has recently started to build 200,000-cu-m oil product terminal in Jianyang City in Southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to a company source.

The terminal with a designed annual turnover capacity of 2-mil mt will be affiliated facility of Guiyang-Ziyang pipeline, which is a branch of Sinopec's Southwest Oil Product Pipeline, the source introduced.

Construction of the tank farm is expected to be complete in 2012, the source said, adding the Guiyang-Ziyang pipeline would become operational in 2013.

With the terminal and pipeline on stream, Sinopec is able to further guarantee its oil product supply in Sichuan and Chongqing in Southwest China, market sources pointed out.

Sinopec's oil product sales are estimated to reach about 2-mil mt in Sichuan in 2010, occupying 25% of the total consumption of the province.

Sinopec's rival PetroChina owns over 60% market shares in Sichuan at present, which operated the 5-mil-mt/yr Lanzhou-Chengdu-Chongqing Oil Product Pipeline.
