Changsha County Becomes the First County in Central China

Just in a short period of 5 years, Changsha County has developed itself from "the First County of Hunan" to "the First County in Central China" at an amazing speed, with the economic competitiveness ranking the 25th across the country. The county is also rated as one of the national Top 100 small and medium-sized cities of scientific development and one of the first batches of counties with the highest sense of happiness in China.

It is learned that during the "11th Five-Year Plan" period, the investment in the fixed assets in Changsha has totaled 94.48 billion yuan, the urban built-up area attaining 48 square kilometers and urbanization rate 48.2%. The CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and Changsha Municipal People's Government have intensified input in the course of improving people's well-being, injecting over 70% of the newly-earmarked capital in the endeavor.

According to Yang Ruiwen, secretary of the Party committee of Changsha National Economic & Technical Development Zone and secretary of the CPC Changsha County Committee, during the "11th Five-Year Plan" period, the government spared no effort to practically tackle the hot and knotty issues including income increasing, employment, social security, housing, medical treatment, education and environment protection.
