Agricultural Sci-tech Innovation & Cooperation Network for Six Provinces of Central China Established in Changsha

The first meeting of the Agricultural Sci-tech Innovation & Cooperation Network of Six Provinces in Central China was held in Changsha on December 20, 2010. At the meeting, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and six provincial academies in central China signed a sci-tech cooperation agreement. Zhai Huqu, president of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Xu Minghua, vice governor of Hunan Province, and Yuan Longping, vice chairman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, attended the meeting and extended their greetings to the participants.

The network, initiated by the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, is an open sci-tech cooperative organization jointly launched by the six provincial academies of agricultural sciences in Anhui, Hubei, Henan, Jiangxi, Shanxi and Hunan. The network serves as an important platform for the development of agricultural sci-tech innovation in central south China and aims to promote communication among stake-holders, coordination for the research direction and to enhance the organizational cooperation among these six academies.

According to the agreement, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences will provide rich sci-tech resources to support the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences in improving its sci-tech renovation capability. In this way, the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences is expected to gradually develop into a regional agricultural sci-tech innovation base so as to better serve Hunan Province and areas on the lower-middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Besides, a cooperation and negotiation system will be built between both sides.
