Damuyu Tourism Village

The village is situated in north of Longhe Village Committee in Mosha Township with 69 kilometers away from Guishan Township and 5 kilometers away from downtown of Mosha, Xinping County, Yunnan Province, P. R. China. It is the birthplace of Flower Street Festival of Huayaodai Nationality. The village is endowed with rich ethnic culture and the outfits of Huayaodai are delicate and colorful, which have received high compliments from experts, scholars and visitors. The village occupies an area of 0.5 square kilometer with an elevation 490 meters and is a typical dry and hot valley. There are altogether 103 families and 440 people in the village. The major cash crops include sugarcane, bitter melon, litchi, mango, banana and water melon. The village has built a 9.7-kilometer-long tour road, a 350-meter-long riverside road, and two public toilets. The village gate and outdoor performance stage have been completed. It also has constructed an 80-mu ecological agriculture sightseeing zone with plantation of litchi, green jujube and other cash crops. Twenty-five farmer s inns with 127 beds have been open, which can treat more than 400 diners at the same time. In 2006, the village received 4,500 visitors and gained tourism income 1 million yuan with 47,000 yuan ticket income. The annual Flower Street Festival, a traditional celebration of Huayaodai Nationality, has brought reputation to the village and gained market effects. In 2008, Xinping County has made it its priority to develop original ethnic culture and establish Damuyu Huayaodai Ethnic Culture Zone into an AAA tourism zone of national standard.
