The 7th China International Food Tourism Festival, a major platform to showcase the food culture of Sichuan and Chengdu, held its preliminary program in Beijing on Monday.
Chengdu is known for its mouthwatering hot and spicy cuisine and the city was nominated for the Creative Cities Network in the gastronomy category by UNESCO early this year.
During the program, offi cials from foreign embassies in China and their families took great interest in the colorful activities, including cooking demos, tea rituals, opera and fashion shows.
They also received guidance from Sichuan chefs in cooking Kongpo Chicken, a classic Sichuan dish.
The 7th China International Food Tourism Festival will celebrate its grand opening in Chengdu on Sept. 26. A great number of programs will also be conducted at sub-venues around the city during the period of the event.
