Recently, Leshan Government and Shandong Hi-speed Group signed the Leshan Round-city Freeway (north-east half-ring) Investment and Construction Agreement. With a 2-billion yuan investment, the 23.973-kilometer freeway is planned to start building after the 2011 Spring Festival. It will be finished by the end of 2012, the same time with Leshan-Zigong freeway.
Leshan-Zigong freeway, runs from west to east, started construction last July. Leshan-Yibin freeway, runs from north to south, opened to traffic last December. Together with Chengdu-Leshan freeway, the three freeways form a ring in south-west Leshan City. The north-east half-ring of Leshan round-city freeway is a two-way freeway with 4 lanes and a design speed of 80km/h. When finished, it will connect the south-west ring to draw a complete circle of Leshan round-city freeway.
