Travel Giants Invest In Hainan Travel Industry

Hainan Provincial Tourism Bureau, Haikou Municipal Government and Lingao County Government have signed contracts with 10 tourism companies to jointly develop the tourism industry in Hainan.

Kingwell Group, Mytravel Group, Tui China, Russia PTS Group, and China Ocean Deluxe Cruises are some of the companies invloved in this new round of cooperation.

At the signing ceremony, Kingwell Group announced that it will invest RMB13 billion on travel projects in Hainan, particularly in golf clubs, rural travel projects and shopping streets.

Tui China is planning to send tourists to Hainan from this November. It is estimated that they will send 13,000 tourists to Hainan at the end of this year and 2007, and the number will reach 50,000 to 70,000 tourists by 2010.

Britain's Mytravel has cooperated with a travel agency in Beijing to launch charter flights between Britain and Sanya, which will fly between May and October every year for five years. In May 2007, they will first launch charter flights to Sanya from London and Manchester and are expected to bring about 10,000 tourists each year.

Aeroflot Russian International will launch lines from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Sanya starting in November, and Russia PTS Group will launch a Moscow - Sanya - Guangzhou -Moscow line from November 2, 2006, and launch special lines to Sanya from St. Petersburg, New Siberia and Yekaterinburg in 2007.

China Ocean Deluxe Cruises plans to develop deluxe cruise travel services in Hainan. They will first launch their ship Mona Lisa in December, and launch another ship in the end year of 2007. This will allow them to cruise among Sanya, Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, and Brunei.

Shanghai-based Spring International Travel Service is preparing to open a headquarters for Spring Airlines in Sanya before the end of this year, and add 15 planes by 2010.
