Starting March 1, the minimum wage for workers in the central districts of Guangzhou increased from 1,100 RMB to 1,300 RMB. The minimum hourly wage has risen from 6.32 RMB to 7.47 RMB for full-time staff and from 10.6 RMB to 12.5 RMB for part-time staff. In suburban districts (Panyu, Huadu, Nansha, Conghua and Zengcheng) the minimum wage has increased from 980 RMB to 1,100 RMB.

The minimal wage does not include compensation for overtime, special allowances, social insurance or other benefits such as accommodation.

The Guangzhou Human Resources and Social Security Bureau confirmed that the city's minimum wage is higher than other first-tier cities. However, they do not believe this increase shall have a negative impact on operating costs as most companies are already paying employees over 1,500 RMB per month.
